Dayna is born in Bolivia and raised in Germany. She studied at ArtEZ Institute for the Arts in The Netherlands and has been selected for training at Alvin Ailey American Dance Centre, Dancespace in New York and L’École des Sables with Germaine Acogny in Senegal. She has worked for various choreographers/ makers in the Netherlands and abroad.
Her starting point is the search for connections between different bodies, old and new culture, identity, ritual and transformation by researching traditional and autochthonous rhythms and dances from different cultures. Dayna developed her work by collaborating with dancers, choreographers, theatre makers and performers from diverse cultures such as Latin America, Africa, North India and Europe and her performances had been shown at Teatro Municipal de La Paz in Bolivia, Theater de Meervaart in Amsterdam, Under the Salt Tree Festival in India.
Dayna proposes an inclusive dialogue towards a cultural divers audience.
Her body language contains a broad scale of dance backgrounds which through that can be described as style transcending and authentic. With and extensive divers experience in movement, she embodies a bridge between different worlds, with great improvisation skills and experience in a variety of dance genres: From Ballet to Modern to Contemporary, Urban to Jazz and Traditional.
She seeks for inter- and trans-disciplinary collaborations involving science and visual/ digital art generating creative processes in dialogue with writers, speakers and bodyworkers.
Dance for her is contact and communication without judgment. Here fore she invites her audience to experience together with her and to step out of the usual viewing experience. As one of the artistic directors of Movementalist, she has being engaged in multicultural exchanges for several years, choreographing, teaching, performing and creating concepts and practices on divers platforms. ǀ PROJECTS
